U2 - U218 SINGLES

El álbum verá la luz el próximo 20 de noviembre
La banda irlandesa U2 editará a nivel mundial lo mejor de su carrera en un disco recopilatorio que contendrá un total de dieciocho canciones y contará con dos temas inéditos.

U218 singles es el nuevo disco de U2, compuesto por 16 grandes éxitos y dos temas inéditos. Uno de ellos es una versión del tema de The Skids, The Saints are Coming, interpretada a dúo con Green Day, y que sirvió como ayuda para los músicos de Nueva Orleans afectados por el Huracán Katrina. La otra canción, el primer single, es Window on the Skies. Ambos temas se grabaron en septiembre en los estudios de Abby Road en Londres, con la producción de Rick Rubin.

El resto de la lista se completa con 'Vertigo' y 'Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own', del álbum 'How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb' (2004), y 'Beautiful Day', 'Walk On', 'Elevation' y 'Stuck In A Moment You Can't Get Out Of', de 'All That You Can't Leave Behind (2000)'.

De 'Achtung Baby' (1991) han escogido 'One' y 'Mysterious Ways', mientras que de 'The Joshua Tree' (1987) han elegido 'I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For', 'With Or Without You' y 'Where The Streets Have No Name'. Los álbumes 'Rattle and Hum' (1988) y 'The Unforgettable Fire' (1984) también están representados en este recopilatorio con los temas 'Desire', del primero, y 'Pride (in The Name Of Love)', del segundo.

De su tercer álbum, 'War' (1983), destacan 'Sunday Bloody Sunday' y 'New Year's Day'. Por último, el grupo ha decidido incluir el sencillo 'Sweetest Thing', el regalo de cumpleaños que el cantante de U2, Bono, hizo a su esposa, Ali, en 1998.

Se publica en formato CD, DVD y CD+DVD (edición especial con libreto de 48 páginas). El DVD muestra 10 canciones en directo grabadas en su concierto en Milán, Italia, durante su Tour Vertigo 2005.

U2 abandona Island records, su sello tradicional, y ficha por Mercury

Después de 27 años, U2 se marcha de Island records, la discográfica con la que ha grabado la totalidad de sus discos y firma un contrato con Mercury, que al igual que Island es un sello de Universal.

Su primer trabajo con la nueva compañía será precisamente U218 Singles, según fuentes de Doctor Music.
